What they need
About the role
We are looking for a hands-on, experienced Solar Technician to join our Auckland team, supporting our Auckland-based Project Manager (PM) and Business Development Manager (BDM). This is a hybrid based role combining site assessments, technical support for tenders, installation quality assurance, and support across commercial and residential solar projects throughout the North Island. You'll be a key link between the field and the office, feeding accurate site information back to the PM, BDM, and wider team to support pricing, tendering, and project delivery, while also upholding installation standards, safety, and quality across North Island sites.
Key responsibilities
- Complete site visits for prospective and active projects across the North Island.
- Feed back accurate site information, photos, and observations to the BDM, PM, and extended team to support accurate pricing and proposals.
- Identify site-specific risks, access constraints, and installation considerations early in the sales/design process.
- Assist with take-off quantities (materials, cabling, mounting, etc.) for tender and pricing purposes.
- Verify drawings and specifications against real site conditions ahead of tender submission.
- Support the engineering and design team with practical, field-based input during the design phase.
- Assist Project Managers in upholding installation standards, safety, and quality across all North Island installs.
- Carry out site inspections and quality checks on installation works, flagging non-conformances.
- Support the PM in identifying and resolving reactive installation issues, proposing practical solutions on-site.
- Maintain accurate records of site visits, inspections, and works completed.
About you
- Minimum 5 years' experience in solar PV, across both residential and commercial installations.
- A relevant EWRB (Electrical Workers Registration Board) license, with the ability to access and work at electrical distribution boards.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand.
- Full, unrestricted New Zealand driver's license.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently in and around the North Island, including overnight stays as required.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, solar PV components, and installation/safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and tender documentation.
- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in varied weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgement on-site.
- Excellent communication skills, confident liaising with PMs, BDMs, clients, and the wider team.
Benefits
- Competitive salary, based on experience.
- Company vehicle.
- Opportunities for professional growth and training.
- A supportive, forward-thinking team environment.
- The chance to work on high-profile, meaningful renewable energy projects.
