Solar Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Solar Technician to join our dynamic team dedicated to advancing renewable energy solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting photovoltaic (solar) systems across various sites. Your expertise will ensure that solar energy systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant electrical codes and safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of onshore renewable energy projects while working outdoors and on construction sites. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and possesses strong electrical experience combined with construction and roofing knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Install photovoltaic solar systems on rooftops and ground-mounted sites following blueprint diagrams and schematics.
• Conduct electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot issues within high voltage and low voltage systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Read electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately to guide installation and maintenance procedures.
• Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other construction equipment safely to assemble fixtures, mount panels, and connect electrical components.
• Ensure all work complies with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, and electrical safety procedures such as NFPA 70E.
• Perform routine inspections of installed systems to identify potential faults or safety hazards; repair or replace faulty components as needed.
• Collaborate with team members on construction site activities including roofing, fixture installation, and system commissioning in outdoor environments.

Skills

• Extensive experience working with photovoltaic systems installation and electrical diagnostics in a commercial or onshore renewable energy setting.
• Strong knowledge of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems, schematics reading, and blueprint interpretation.
• Familiarity with NEC codes, NFPA 70E safety standards, and electrical safety procedures for outdoor work environments.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems efficiently using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Construction site experience including roofing work, fixture installation, ladder use, and working at heights safely.
• Ability to read electrical blueprints accurately and follow detailed technical instructions for system setup.
• Good physical condition for outdoor work in varying weather conditions; experience with construction or roofing is preferred.
