About the role

Muar Ban Lee Group Berhad. is seeking a talented Solidworks Draftsman / Mechanical Design Draftsman to join our engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Muar, Johor. In this role, you will be responsible for translating engineering concepts and specifications into detailed technical drawings and 3D models using industry-standard Solidworks / CAD software. You will play a crucial part in supporting our design and manufacturing operations, ensuring that all technical documentation meets our exacting standards and contributes directly to the successful delivery of our projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse mechanical design projects whilst developing your technical expertise in a dynamic engineering environment.

Key responsibilities

1. Create detailed 2D technical drawings and 3D models using Solidworks CAD software based on engineering specifications and design briefs
2. Prepare comprehensive manufacturing and assembly drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, and annotations
3. Collaborate with senior engineers and design teams to interpret design requirements and translate them into precise technical documentation
4. Review and revise drawings based on feedback from engineers, manufacturing teams, and quality assurance personnel
5. Maintain accurate records of all design files, versions, and revisions in compliance with company standards
6. Produce bill of materials (BOM) and parts lists for manufacturing and procurement purposes
7. Support the design process by creating preliminary sketches and concept drawings
8. Ensure all drawings comply with relevant engineering standards, codes, and best practices
9. Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and project files for client handovers
10. Participate in design reviews and provide technical input on drafting-related matters

What we're looking for

1. Proven proficiency in Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software, with demonstrated ability to create complex mechanical drawings
2. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering drawing standards, and manufacturing processes
3. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work accurately on technical drawings and specifications
4. Competency in using 2D drafting tools and the ability to produce clear, professional technical drawings
5. Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and manufacturing teams
6. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
7. Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical drawing issues
8. Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering, CAD drafting, or related field (Diploma or Higher Certificate preferred)
9. Experience in manufacturing, product design, or industrial engineering environments is advantageous
