Responsibilities

• Safely operate a tractor-trailer on local routes, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
• Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport.
• Navigate efficiently using GPS systems to meet delivery schedules across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes within the local area.
• Deliver freight accurately to designated locations, including automobile transportation and hazardous materials (Hazmat), following all hazardous materials regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, trailer, and cargo to ensure safety and compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery records, and vehicle maintenance in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery statuses, and any issues encountered during trips.

Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with clean driving record.
• Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving within local or regional areas.
• Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, and tractor-trailers.
• Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (Hazmat) preferred but not required; willingness to obtain certification if necessary.
• Ability to handle manual transmission trucks and perform manual handling of freight safely.
• Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling, truck loading/unloading procedures, and freight safety protocols.
• Proficiency in GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning.
• Commitment to following FMCSA, DOT regulations, and hazardous materials regulations diligently.
• Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service excellence.
