What we look for?

We are looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to help shape the future technology landscape of a leading international banking environment. This role is ideal for professionals with strong experience in Enterprise Architecture, large-scale transformation initiatives, and Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) who enjoy influencing strategic decisions and driving modernization across complex technology ecosystems. Main tasks and accountabilities will be:

As a Solution Architect, you will play a key role in defining and driving target technology architectures across multiple business capabilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Defining target and reference architectures for strategic CIB capabilities.
• Decomposing business capabilities into architectural building blocks and defining architecture principles, integration patterns, and transition roadmaps.
• Challenging current technology strategies and assumptions with CIOs, technology leaders, and senior business stakeholders.
• Assessing application and platform landscapes to identify duplication, fragmentation, technical debt, risks, and consolidation opportunities.
• Translating architecture decisions into actionable technology roadmaps, including migration, modernization, consolidation, or retirement strategies.
• Evaluating market and vendor solutions through buy, build, or reuse assessments, considering adoption, integration fit, lock-in risks, and TCO.
• Leading architecture governance forums, decision-making workshops, and cross-domain working groups.
• Defining governance and target-state strategies for AI-enabled solutions and End User Computing (EUC) environments.
• Supporting investment planning by transforming architecture decisions into fundable initiatives and business cases.

What do we expect from you?

Mandatory requirements:

8+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Technology Architecture, or Transformation programmes. Minimum 3 years of experience within CIB (Corporate & Investment Banking) or Wholesale Banking environments. Proven experience in:

• Enterprise Architecture
• Reference Architecture & Target Architecture
• Architecture Transformation
• Application Rationalization
• Platform Consolidation
• Technology Modernization
• Current-to-Target Assessments

Strong understanding of:

• Application ecosystems
• Data Architecture
• Integration Architecture
• Cloud Technologies
• Cybersecurity
• Resilience and Operational Risk

Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing strategic technology decisions. English level B2 minimum (C1 preferred). The role requires preparing and presenting recommendations, leading workshops and collaborating with international stakeholders.

Nice to have: Deep knowledge of a major CIB business domain or cross-functional platform. Experience leading global transformation programmes. Exposure to buy/build/reuse assessments and technology strategy decisions. Experience managing large application portfolios and producing executive-level decision materials. Strong business case and investment planning capabilities.

Work Location: Madrid (hybrid model) Candidates must be based in Madrid or nearby areas and able to attend the office several days per week. This is not a fully remote position.
