Solution Architect

Job Purpose

The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and governing end-to-end technology solutions across business initiatives, digital platforms, enterprise applications, integrations, cloud services, and vendor solutions. The role partners with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure solutions are aligned with business objectives, architecture standards, security requirements, and operational support models. This position requires an experienced professional who can work independently and contribute immediately to project delivery, architecture governance, and technology decision-making.

Major Accountabilities

Solution Architecture

• Lead solution design activities for projects and strategic initiatives
• Produce and maintain architecture artifacts such as solution designs, integration diagrams, and high-level architecture documents
• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, supportable, and aligned with enterprise and regional architecture direction
• Provide architecture guidance, design assurance, and decision support throughout the project lifecycle

Architecture Governance

• Review and present solution designs to the Architecture and Technology Governance Council to confirm compliance with approved architecture standards
• Participate in architecture, security, and technology governance forums
• Review, identify and mitigate architecture risks and technical debt
• Support architecture assessments, technology evaluations, and governance reviews

Integration & Cloud Architecture

• Define architecture patterns for API, application, data, and system integrations
• Review cloud-based solutions covering performance, security, resilience, and scalability
• Promote reusability, standardisation, and API-first design principles

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Engage business stakeholders to translate requirements into sustainable technology solutions
• Review and challenge vendor proposals, solution designs, and implementation approaches
• Work closely with delivery teams to ensure successful solution implementation
• Drive the design of revenue-generating, compliance-ready, and process-efficient solutions

Delivery Assurance

• Validate that implemented solutions conform to approved architecture, security controls, and non-functional requirements before production deployment
• Assess design deviations, define remediation actions, and escalate unresolved risks through the appropriate governance forums
• Support delivery teams during implementation, testing, transition, and production readiness reviews

Qualification and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; a relevant Master’s degree is advantageous
• Professional certifications such as TOGAF, AWS, Azure, security, or equivalent architecture certifications are advantageous
• Minimum 8 years of relevant information technology experience, including at least 5 years in solution architecture or an equivalent role
• Proven delivery of enterprise-scale applications, integrations, APIs, and cloud solutions across the full project lifecycle
• Experience translating business requirements into secure, scalable, resilient, supportable, and cost-effective solution designs
• Experience engaging senior business stakeholders, project and engineering teams, security and infrastructure teams, and external vendors
• Experience conducting architecture reviews, technology evaluations, security reviews, risk assessments, and governance submissions
• Preferred experience in insurance, banking, financial services, or another highly regulated industry
• Hands-on exposure to AWS and/or Azure, microservices, container platforms, API management, DevSecOps, and modern integration patterns is preferred
