Job Purpose

The Specialist – Solution Architect (Corporate Systems) plays a design-capable role in shaping solution approaches across Corporate Systems. The role translates business requirements into structured, end-to-end solution designs and supports informed architectural decision-making.

The position is responsible for proposing and refining solution designs, assessing options and trade-offs, and working closely with the central Architecture team to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security principles, and long-term technology direction.

Final architecture review and approval remain with the Architecture team. This role focuses on solution design preparation, collaboration, and alignment to enable effective and timely decisions, without replacing architecture governance.

Main Responsibilities

1   Solution Design & Architecture Preparation

·       Analyze business requirements and translate them into solution design proposals covering application components, integrations, data flows, and non-functional requirements.

·       Design solution approaches and evaluate alternative options, clearly articulating trade-offs, assumptions, and constraints.

·       Prepare solution design artefacts (e.g. diagrams, design summaries, decision rationales) to support architecture review and delivery readiness.

2   Architecture Collaboration & Governance Alignment

·       Work closely with the central Architecture team to review solution designs and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards and security policies.

·       Refine and adjust solution designs based on Architecture feedback prior to final review and approval.

·       Support architecture review sessions by clearly explaining solution intent, design decisions, and impacts.

3   Business & Delivery Enablement

·       Act as the primary solution design counterpart for Business Units during initiatives, ensuring business requirements are accurately reflected in solution designs.

·       Provide design clarification and guidance to delivery teams and vendors during implementation, ensuring solutions are built in line with approved designs.

·       Review vendor proposals and technical approaches to validate alignment with the intended solution design and architectural direction.

4   Cross‑System Perspective (Corporate Systems)

·       Apply solution design thinking across Corporate Systems, without being limited to a single platform or application.

·       Leverage domain experience (e.g. HR, People Systems, or other corporate platforms) as a primary area of expertise, while maintaining a broader solution design perspective.

5   AI Capability Assessment & Solution Design Support

·       Contribute to the assessment and evaluation of AI capabilities across Corporate Systems, focusing on feasibility, security, data considerations, and alignment with governance and business needs.

·       Analyze AI use cases from a solution design perspective, including impact on system architecture, integrations, data flows, and user experience.

·       Prepare evaluation summaries and design recommendations in collaboration with system owners, delivery teams, and the AI COE.

·       Support pilot initiatives and post-implementation reviews to assess solution effectiveness, adoption, and operational impact.

·       Leverage vendor-provided AI roadmaps and adoption guidance as key inputs to solution design, rather than conducting deep AI research or model development.

6   Documentation & Continuous Improvement

·       Maintain up-to-date solution design documentation and decision records.

·       Identify recurring design challenges and recommend improvements to solution patterns or design approaches.

·       Contribute to the continuous improvement of solution design practices and collaboration models with Architecture and delivery teams.

Qualifications

Education:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience:

·       Experience in solution design, system architecture, or technical lead roles for enterprise or corporate systems.

·       Proven experience translating business requirements into structured solution designs.

·       Experience working closely with architecture, security, infrastructure, delivery, and vendor teams.

·       Prior experience with HR, People Systems (e.g. Workday), or other corporate platforms is an advantage, but not mandatory.

Technical Skills:

·       Strong understanding of solution architecture concepts, integration patterns, and non-functional requirements.

·       Ability to design and explain system interactions, data flows, and architectural trade-offs.

·       Familiarity with authentication, integration, and security considerations in enterprise environments.

·       Ability to produce clear solution design artefacts suitable for architecture review and decision-making.

Soft Skills:

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think end-to-end.

·       Clear and structured communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

·       Comfortable working across multiple teams and balancing business needs with architectural constraints.

·       Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple initiatives in parallel.
