Job Overview
We are seeking a technically capable and solutions-oriented Solutions Architect to support the design, evaluation, and implementation of integrated engineering and IT infrastructure solutions.
The role will work across Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) engineering, network infrastructure, server systems, structured cabling, and related technology services, depending on project requirements. You will collaborate with project managers, M&E engineers, IT specialists, vendors, and customers to translate business and technical requirements into practical, reliable, and scalable solutions.
The successful candidate should have a solid understanding of infrastructure architecture, systems integration, technical design, and project delivery. Experience working in engineering services, IT infrastructure, building systems, or systems integration environments would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities1. Solution Design and Architecture
- Analyse project requirements and develop technical solution proposals aligned with customer needs and project objectives.
- Design infrastructure architectures covering relevant IT systems, network connectivity, server environments, and supporting engineering systems.
- Evaluate system compatibility, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and implementation requirements.
- Prepare solution diagrams, technical specifications, architecture documents, and supporting design materials.
- Identify technical constraints, integration dependencies, and potential implementation risks during the design stage.
- M&E and IT Infrastructure Integration
- Work with M&E engineering teams to assess integration requirements between building infrastructure and relevant IT systems.
- Support technical coordination involving structured cabling, network connectivity, equipment rooms, server infrastructure, and building-related technology systems where applicable.
- Review interfaces between IT infrastructure and systems such as building management systems (BMS), monitoring platforms, access control, or other connected systems when included in project scope.
- Ensure proposed solutions consider operational requirements, equipment compatibility, installation constraints, and future maintenance needs.
- Coordinate with relevant engineering disciplines to resolve design conflicts and integration issues.
- Technical Assessment and Product Evaluation
- Assess hardware, software, network components, infrastructure equipment, and third-party technologies against project specifications.
- Compare technical options based on functionality, performance, compatibility, lifecycle costs, and support requirements.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to obtain technical information, validate proposed configurations, and clarify product capabilities.
- Review bills of materials, equipment schedules, technical submissions, and proposed system configurations.
- Recommend suitable technical options based on project requirements, budget considerations, and operational needs.
- Project Implementation and Technical Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, installation teams, and external service providers throughout project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance during implementation, installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning activities within the agreed project scope.
- Review implementation plans, technical drawings, configuration details, and relevant project documentation.
- Assist in troubleshooting complex technical issues and coordinate with the appropriate specialists to identify solutions.
- Monitor technical deliverables and support the resolution of design or implementation issues that may affect project schedules.
- Infrastructure Performance and Reliability
- Evaluate proposed solutions for performance, availability, resilience, and operational continuity.
- Support the development of appropriate backup, redundancy, monitoring, and recovery arrangements where required by project specifications.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, infrastructure utilisation, and long-term maintainability.
- Review technical risks associated with equipment dependencies, system interfaces, and infrastructure capacity.
- Provide recommendations for upgrades, technology refreshes, and infrastructure improvements.
- Technical Documentation and Standards
- Maintain clear documentation covering architecture designs, system configurations, technical specifications, and integration requirements.
- Ensure technical deliverables are consistent with approved project scope and applicable customer requirements.
- Support technical reviews, design meetings, testing documentation, and project handover activities.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to address technical comments and update documentation when designs change.
- Consider applicable Singapore requirements, industry standards, cybersecurity practices, and safety requirements relevant to the systems being designed.
- Stakeholder and Customer Engagement
- Engage customers and internal teams to clarify requirements, explain technical options, and communicate design considerations.
- Present proposed solutions, technical assessments, and implementation approaches in a clear and structured manner.
- Work with commercial and project teams to support technical proposals, tender submissions, and responses to customer specifications.
- Coordinate with vendors and technology partners on solution feasibility, integration dependencies, and product support.
- Provide technical input during project planning, design reviews, and post-implementation assessments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in solutions architecture, IT infrastructure, systems integration, network engineering, or engineering project delivery.
- Understanding of IT infrastructure components, including networks, servers, storage, structured cabling, and related technologies.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, system diagrams, engineering drawings, and project requirements.
- Familiarity with infrastructure integration and coordination between IT systems and M&E-related systems.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
- Ability to manage multiple technical tasks and support project delivery within agreed timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in M&E engineering, building technology, data centre infrastructure, ELV systems, or IT infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with network architecture, virtualisation, cloud connectivity, cybersecurity fundamentals, or infrastructure monitoring.
- Exposure to building management systems, access control, CCTV, or other integrated building systems, where relevant.
- Experience preparing technical proposals, bills of materials, solution diagrams, and tender documentation.
- Relevant technical certifications in networking, cloud infrastructure, systems administration, or project management would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of applicable Singapore engineering, installation, and safety requirements relevant to the project scope.
What We Offer
- Competitive remuneration based on qualifications and relevant experience.
- Opportunities to work on integrated M&E and IT infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to technical solution design, systems integration, and project implementation.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering and technology teams.
- Opportunities for professional development and technical skills enhancement.
