What they need

Job Title: Solutions Architect

Duration: 12 Months

Location: 100% Remote

Overview

The Solutions Architect is responsible for strategically designing and implementing medium to highly complex technology solutions that align with enterprise and domain architecture guidelines. This role plays a critical part in ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable systems that meet business needs.

This role will involve supporting a wide range of applications, with a strong focus on the Staff League program at Ascension.

The position includes responsibilities around integration with EHR systems to ensure smooth data flow and accurate functionality.

A key part of the work will be updating and managing medical devices such as physiological monitors and ventilators.

The candidate will be responsible for handling life cycle management activities, ensuring systems and devices are maintained and updated throughout their use.

The role also involves addressing older equipment and applications, identifying what needs replacement, and supporting the transition to newer systems.

Looking for a true architect who can define and establish standards and repeatable processes for how medical equipment upgrades will be carried out.

The architect will focus on creating a solid standard process that can be applied consistently across hospitals.

Needs to understand that every hospital may have its own nuances and differences that require adjustments.

Should be able to build a strong framework while also being flexible enough to make tweaks when needed.

Must take an agile approach—start with a good standard process, then continuously adapt and refine it as upgrades are executed.

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Design

  • Design and implement new architecture patterns for complex business and technology needs
  • Provide end-to-end architecture oversight to ensure consistency with enterprise standards
  • Lead quality initiatives focused on scalability, maintainability, security, and extensibility
  • Identify and resolve issues between architecture and vendor solutions
  • Formulate implementation and migration strategies

Technical Leadership

  • Offer expertise in enterprise architecture, software development, data integration, and technical frameworks
  • Present technical concepts to both large and small audiences with clarity and confidence

Information Systems Integration

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of discrete and integrated systems
  • Significant experience with medical device integrations (physiologic monitors, ventilators, etc.) with EHR systems

System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Develop shared tools and documentation standards
  • Mentor others and contribute to methodology improvements

Strategic Planning & Impact Analysis

  • Assess system development impacts across architecture components and business processes
  • Conceptualize platform changes due to acquisitions or enterprise-wide implementations
  • Integrate system components and conduct risk evaluations

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply original thinking to improve methods, processes, and services
  • Evaluate ROI of innovative solutions
  • Encourage open-mindedness and experimentation
  • Identify patterns and trends to generate forward-thinking solutions

Qualifications:

Required

  • High school diploma/GED with 10 years of experience, or Associate's/Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
  • Healthcare provider industry experience
  • Strong stakeholder alignment and technology harmonization skills
  • Ability to define and implement architecture standards and governance frameworks

Preferred

  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience
  • Certifications in leading EMR platforms

Skills & Competencies

  • Critical thinking and decisive judgment
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strategic mindset with attention to detail
