Job Title: Solution Architect (KYC / Mortgages)

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Type: Freelance / B2B

Duration: 12 months, extension possible

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, 50% on site (Monday or Wednesday plus one other day)

About the Role

You’ll join a leading Belgian bank’s central architecture team of Solution and Domain Architects, who work with the delivery squads across the organisation. The role is open because of increased workload. It covers end-to-end architecture for KYC and/or Mortgages, across platform modernisation, process digitalisation and AI-driven automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end architecture of KYC and/or Mortgages capabilities, keeping regulatory requirements, business processes, data flows and IT solutions aligned.
• Modularise existing solutions and define clear interfaces between components.
• Introduce scalable architecture covering persistence, configuration management and monitoring.
• Define and govern the data that drives business rules and decision-making.
• Design digitised end-to-end customer and operations journeys using orchestration, task and case management.
• Shape AI-powered employee assistance, agentic AI for straight-through processing, and AI-driven document extraction.
• Evolve APIs and services so AI agents can use them.
• Align roadmaps and manage dependencies across squads, and document architectural decisions clearly.

Required Skills

• 3 to 5+ years in solution architecture, software engineering or IT delivery
• Experience translating business requirements into end-to-end solution designs
• A working grasp of architecture principles: data, privacy, security, scalability, resilience and cost
• Stakeholder management across business and IT
• Fluent English, and confident about challenging assumptions

Nice to have:

• KYC, AML, onboarding or Mortgages / lending domain knowledge
• TOGAF, ArchiMate or Public Cloud certification
• BPM, orchestration or case management experience
• Exposure to agentic AI or intelligent document processing
• Dutch or French
