NEC Australia are seeking expressions of interest in joining our team of contract consultants in Melbourne to work on-site for one of our customers.

We are seeking a Solutions Architect for an initial 6-month contract with the option of a further extension. Please note this would be an initial 3/day week engagement. The successful candidate will need to be located in Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities:

· End-to-end design: take initiatives from concept through high-level design across application, data, integration, security, network and infrastructure, and brings in specialists where needed.

· Documentation discipline: write designs as the work happens, to customer templates, with requirements, decisions and risks kept traceable.

· Decisions and options: experienced in structured options analysis and in recording decisions as Architecture Decision Records.

· Governance: taking designs through a design authority or review board, and comfortable working within stage gates and architecture principles.

· Vendor oversight: critically reviews of vendor and integrator designs and pulls them into a single customer-owned view.

· Critical infrastructure: IT/OT experience in aviation, transport, utilities or similar environments. Aviation knowledge is a plus but not mandatory.

· Security by design: work closely with cyber teams and treats security and data handling as design inputs from the start.

· Communication: explain designs in plain business terms to executives and in technical depth to engineers.

· Independence: Any supplier interest in delivering the solution must be declared.

Experience working with cross-functional teams in complex operational settings.

Environment :

· Technical environment: a hybrid estate, still mainly on-premise, made up mostly of commercial (COTS and SaaS) products. Core platforms include Microsoft (Azure, Entra ID, Dynamics 365, Power Platform), ServiceNow, a Cisco-based network and security environment, and an Azure-based data and analytics platform.

· Systems: experience integrating operational systems such as airport operations databases, baggage handling, access control and CCTV, and building management or SCADA is highly valued.

Eligibility :

To be eligible for a position, applicants will need to have valid work rights for Australia and be willing to undergo a comprehensive background checking process, including police checks.

Commencement Date: asap for an initial 6-month contract (3 days/week)

This is a Melbourne based role with candidates must be able to work on-site at the customer site (Tullamarine) as required with some flexibility.
