Solutions Architect

🚨 Solutions Architect – Higher Education | Predominantly Remote

I'm working with a university looking for a hands-on Solutions Architect to work across their wider systems estate, tackling complex technical challenges and helping design, build and improve solutions across the organisation.

This isn't your typical architecture role focused purely on strategy and high-level design. They're looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, understanding how systems work, solving problems and taking ownership of solutions from end to end.

⚠️ Previous Higher Education experience is absolutely essential for this opportunity. Candidates without university or HE experience won't be suitable.

What they're looking for:

🔹 Proven experience working within a university or Higher Education institution.

🔹 Strong solutions architecture and systems integration experience.

🔹 A hands-on technical background across applications, databases and infrastructure.

🔹 Experience reviewing existing systems, reverse engineering solutions and identifying where things are going wrong.

🔹 Strong database knowledge and an understanding of how data flows between applications and platforms.

🔹 Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and implementing practical solutions.

🔹 A broad technical skill set, with the ability to work across different technologies rather than specialising in just one area.

🔹 Someone proactive and self-sufficient who can take ownership, work independently and get things done without needing constant direction.

Experience with university enterprise systems, monitoring and observability tools, automation, or platforms such as TechnologyOne and MHR would be beneficial.

📍 Location: Predominantly remote, with occasional campus visits.

📅 Contract: Minimum 2-year fixed-term contract, with the potential to become permanent.

💰 Salary: UH8, with flexibility up to UH9 for the right candidate.
