Solutions Engineer – Switchgear (Remote)

I’m working with a fast-growing US manufacturer that designs and builds custom electrical distribution equipment for data centers, utilities and industrial facilities. Its portfolio spans switchgear, transformers and integrated power systems, giving its engineers room to solve the wider problem rather than focus on a single product.

About the role

As a Solutions Engineer, you’ll be the technical partner to the sales team during the early stages of a project. You’ll meet customers, understand their requirements, develop an initial solution and make sure it is practical to manufacture. Once the approach is agreed, you’ll hand it to Applications Engineering for detailed design and BOM preparation.

You’ll be involved in:

• Leading technical discovery with customers and identifying what their power system needs to achieve.
• Developing high-level switchgear and distribution concepts, including options and trade-offs.
• Presenting solutions to customer engineers and senior decision-makers.
• Working with sales on opportunity strategy, proposals and RFP responses.
• Checking feasibility with engineering and manufacturing before committing to a solution.
• Making sure the detailed engineering team receives a clear, workable brief.

What you’ll bring

• Experience in solutions engineering, applications engineering, sales engineering or technical pre-sales for electrical power equipment.
• Strong switchgear and power-distribution knowledge.
• The ability to discuss a complete customer solution, balancing performance, cost, lead time and manufacturability.
• Confidence leading technical conversations and working closely with commercial teams.
• Experience with custom or engineered-to-order projects would be particularly relevant.
