Soprano Section Leader

Position Summary

4ES Corporation is seeking a skilled Soprano Section Leader / Protestant Song Leader to support chapel music services in Annapolis, Maryland. The Chapel Vocalist will serve as a soloist and section leader for the Chapel Chorale, performing at designated worship services, rehearsals, and special services throughout the academic year.

The ideal candidate will be a dependable and accomplished vocalist with strong music-reading and sight-reading abilities, as well as the ability to provide leadership within the soprano section.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a soprano section leader and vocalist for chapel services and rehearsals.
• Perform as a soloist within the Chapel Chorale and on an as-needed basis during morning chapel services and special services.
• Attend scheduled Sunday services and weekly rehearsals during the academic year.
• Provide reliable attendance, punctuality, preparation, and leadership within the designated section.
• Read and perform sheet music accurately and demonstrate competent sight-reading skills.
• Work collaboratively with the Chapel Chorale, music leadership, and other vocalists.
• Participate in special services or events as needed.
• When unable to perform a scheduled service or rehearsal, provide a substitute of comparable skill and experience and ensure the substitute is properly prepared.

Schedule

Services and rehearsals are generally held during the academic year (September–May).

• Approximately 20 Sunday services at 11:00 AM
• Sunday call time is approximately 10:30 AM
• Approximately 18 weekly rehearsals
• Rehearsals are normally held Tuesdays from 6:00–7:00 PM
• Schedule is subject to change based on chapel requirements and special services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in music or a related field, or commensurate experience as determined appropriate by the Director of Chapel Music.
• Strong vocal ability and experience performing in a choral or worship setting.
• Ability to read music and demonstrate competent sight-reading skills.
• Ability to perform as a soloist when needed.
• Ability to lead and support the soprano section.
• Reliable, punctual, and well-prepared for rehearsals and performances.
• Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively as part of a musical ensemble.

Work Location

Annapolis, Maryland

The vocalist will perform services, rehearsals, and special events at designated chapel facilities in the Annapolis area.
