sourcing - Assistant Manager

Role Purpose

The Procurement Manager will be responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier development, and procurement of components used in fiber optics cable assembly manufacturing. The role focuses on ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier reliability, quality compliance, and uninterrupted material supply for production. The candidate must have strong experience in sourcing fiber optic components such as connectors, ferrules, fiber cables, polishing consumables, and other assembly materials.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for fiber optic components and materials.

• Identify and qualify global and local suppliers for optical components. • Lead supplier negotiations for pricing, delivery terms, and contracts.

• Establish long-term supplier partnerships to ensure supply stability.

2. Supplier Development & Management

• Evaluate and onboard new suppliers for fiber optic components.

• Conduct supplier performance reviews and audits.

• Develop alternate sources for critical components to mitigate risks.

• Work with suppliers on quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

3. Procurement Planning

• Collaborate with production planning and materials teams to forecast material requirements.

• Ensure timely procurement of materials to meet production schedules.

• Monitor lead times and supplier delivery performance.

4. Cost Optimization

• Drive cost reduction initiatives through negotiations, volume consolidation, and alternate sourcing.

• Perform should-cost analysis for optical components.

• Track and report procurement cost savings.

5. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Production Team to ensure material availability.

• Quality Team to ensure supplier quality compliance.

• Engineering Team – for new product introduction and component qualification.

• Logistics Team – for import/export coordination.

6. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure procurement processes comply with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer requirements.

• Maintain accurate procurement documentation, supplier records, and contracts.

• Support traceability requirements for aerospace and telecom products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Business Administration

• Certification in Supply Chain Management / Procurement (preferred) Experience

• 7-10 years of experience in procurement or sourcing

• Minimum 5 years in a managerial role

• Strong experience in sourcing fiber optic components.
