About the Role

Aspley Australian Football & Sporting Club Ltd (Aspley Hornets) is one of Queensland’s leading community Australian Rules football and sporting clubs, offering a vibrant hospitality and entertainment experience for our members, guests and local community.

Our modern facilities include a large Bistro, newly renovated Café, Sports & Lounge Bar, expansive Gaming Room, three dedicated function spaces, and a family-friendly outdoor Deck & Playground area.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen team in a full-time capacity. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated chef looking to take the next step in their career and become an integral part of our growing team.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to deliver consistently high quality food, maintain kitchen standards, and support the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food, takes pride in their work and thrives in a team environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A relevant commercial cookery qualification.
• Previous experience working as a Sous Chef or in a senior chef position.
• Minimum 1 year’s Sous Chef experience preferred.
• Full availability, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Strong communication skills.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
• A strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Excellent time-management.
• A positive, professional attitude and a genuine commitment to working as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef with the day-to-day operation and management of the kitchen.

• Lead, support and motivate the kitchen team during service.

• Ensure food is prepared consistently to a high standard.

• Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness and kitchen hygiene.

• Assist with ordering, stock control and minimising food wastage.

• Ensure kitchen procedures and operational standards are consistently followed.

• Contribute to a positive workplace culture.
