Sous Chef

Dear Sunday Café is looking for an experienced, dependable, and passionate Sous Chef to join our kitchen team! We’re seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in quality and presentation, and is excited to help lead a team while maintaining the standards that make Dear Sunday special.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations and service
• Help lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff
• Maintain consistency in food quality, preparation, portioning, and presentation
• Assist with prep, line execution, and smooth service during busy brunch shifts
• Monitor inventory, product levels, waste, and proper food storage
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
• Ensure food safety, sanitation, and kitchen procedures are consistently followed
• Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory as needed
• Help troubleshoot issues during service and keep the kitchen running efficiently
• Contribute to seasonal specials, menu development, and new dishes
• Step into a leadership role when the Head Chef is unavailable

What We’re Looking For

• Previous professional kitchen experience required; leadership experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and food safety
• Ability to stay organized and composed in a high-volume environment
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
• An eye for detail, consistency, and presentation
• Comfortable working mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Passion for creating great food and an even better guest experience
