Sous Chef

Located in the heart of Cirencester, Sam & Jak is an owner-run restaurant, café and wine bar. With a simple but considered menu, that changes regularly, we offer a delicious take on modern British food, focussing on seasonal, high-quality ingredients.

Location: Cirencester
Hours: Full time, approximately 45 hours per week
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience + tips

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join the team at Sam & Jak.

You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and owners to help run the kitchen, maintain high standards and deliver consistently excellent food.

The role

• Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• Lead the kitchen team during service
• Prepare and cook food to a consistently high standard
• Help with menu development and specials
• Maintain excellent food quality, presentation and consistency
• Ensure food hygiene, cleanliness and HACCP standards are followed
• Manage stock, prep levels and minimise waste
• Train and support junior members of the team
• Take responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence

What we’re looking for

• Previous Sous Chef or strong CDP experience
• Excellent cooking skills and a genuine passion for food
• Strong organisation and communication
• Ability to lead a team in a busy kitchen
• High standards and attention to detail
• Calm and positive approach under pressure
• Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen management

Pay: £35,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
