Sous Chef

Job Summary

Rafters Restaurant is seeking an experienced, skilled, and dependable Sous Chef to support the Head Chef, oversee daily kitchen activities, and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation. The ideal candidate should have strong culinary skills, leadership abilities, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations and food preparation
• Supervise, support, and coordinate kitchen staff during service
• Prepare and cook dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards
• Ensure food quality, taste, presentation, and portion consistency
• Coordinate kitchen workflow during busy service periods
• Monitor ingredient inventory, storage, and stock levels
• Assist with ordering supplies and reducing food waste
• Train and support junior kitchen team members
• Maintain clean, organized, and efficient kitchen work areas
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards

Requirements

• Previous Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, or senior kitchen experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food preparation
• Good leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen environment
• Reliable, professional, and detail-oriented
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices
