Sous Chef

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our busy, high-volume café kitchen.

You’ll work closely with the Head Chef and another Sous Chef as part of the kitchen leadership team, helping oversee daily operations, lead busy services and maintain strong food and kitchen standards.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being part of service while also taking responsibility for the bigger picture, supporting the team, organising the kitchen and helping ensure everything runs smoothly day to day.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the kitchen team during busy services
• Work alongside the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• Help organise prep, sections and daily kitchen operations
• Maintain consistency, presentation and food quality
• Ensure food safety, cleanliness and kitchen standards are maintained
• Help train and support kitchen staff
• Take ownership and help lead the kitchen when required
• Contribute to a positive, organised and professional kitchen culture

About you

• Strong experience in a busy, high-volume café or similar kitchen
• Previous Sous Chef, senior chef or supervisory experience
• Confident leading a team and running a busy service
• Strong organisation and communication skills
• Reliable, calm under pressure and willing to take ownership
• Hands-on and happy to work alongside the team
• Strong understanding of food quality and consistency
• Available 5 days per week, including Saturday and Sunday
• We are willing to consider sponsorship for the right candidate. This will person must have experience in a similar role and pass a probation period of 6 months.
