Responsibilities

• Facilitate clear and precise interpretation between Spanish-speaking clients and English-speaking professionals across various settings, including healthcare, social services, legal proceedings, and community programs.
• Perform medical interpretation by translating complex medical terminology accurately while adhering to clinical ethical guidelines and confidentiality policies.
• Conduct over-the-phone interpretation (OPI) and video remote interpretation (VRI) to support timely communication in urgent or remote situations.
• Translate written documents such as medical records, consent forms, and reports with attention to detail and cultural relevance.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient privacy and ensure secure handling of sensitive information.
• Demonstrate cross-cultural communication skills to bridge cultural differences effectively, fostering trust and understanding among clients from diverse backgrounds.
• Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, supporting social work efforts, child protective services cases, or hospital records as needed.

Skills

• Multilingual proficiency in Spanish and English with excellent interpretation skills in both languages.
• Deep knowledge of medical terminology and experience providing medical interpretation services within healthcare environments.
• Familiarity with American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus but not required; strong communication skills are essential for all modalities of interpretation.
• Experience with video remote interpretation (VRI), over-the-phone interpretation (OPI), and in-person interpreting techniques.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, clinical confidentiality policies, and medical translation standards to ensure compliance at all times.
• Ability to translate complex medical terminology accurately while maintaining clarity for non-English speakers.
• Knowledge of clinical cultural competency standards to support effective cross-cultural interactions in healthcare settings.
• Excellent customer service skills with a professional ethic rooted in integrity, confidentiality, and respect for diverse populations.
• Experience working within hospital or clinical environments, reviewing medical records or supporting social work initiatives involving sensitive information.

Pay: $24.13 - $29.06 per hour
