Special Education Paraprofessional

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive educational environment. This vital role involves working closely with teachers, students, and families to foster a positive and effective learning experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, classroom management, and experience working with children with disabilities, including autism and developmental delays. A commitment to promoting literacy, math skills, and social-emotional development is essential to help students reach their full potential.

Duties

• Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and curriculum tailored to students’ needs.
• Support students with disabilities by providing one-on-one assistance, including behavior management and communication support.
• Use American Sign Language or other communication strategies to facilitate understanding for students with communication challenges.
• Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment through effective classroom management techniques.
• Support literacy and math instruction, including lesson planning and curriculum development aligned with educational standards.
• Assist with daily activities such as childcare, toddler care, preschool activities, and Montessori-based learning experiences.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding behavioral or academic concerns.
• Collaborate with specialists, therapists, and families to ensure comprehensive support for students’ developmental goals.
• Maintain documentation related to student progress, behavior incidents, and IEP goals in compliance with school policies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings; prior classroom experience preferred.
• Knowledge of special education practices, including IEP development and implementation.
• Familiarity with teaching strategies for children with autism, developmental disabilities, or speech/language delays.
• Skills in behavior management, curriculum development, lesson planning, and literacy education.
• Ability to communicate effectively using verbal skills and American Sign Language is a plus.
• Background in early childhood education or childhood development is highly desirable; Montessori or preschool experience is beneficial.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, families, and specialists.

Pay: $21.50 - $23.00 per hour
