Special Education Paraprofessional

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to facilitate the educational development of students with disabilities, including those with autism and developmental disabilities. This role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and promoting the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Provide support in classroom management and behavior management strategies.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents regarding student progress and challenges.
• Support students during lessons, helping them understand instructional materials in subjects such as literacy, math, and other curriculum areas.
• Implement lesson plans developed by the teacher, adapting materials as necessary to meet individual student needs.
• Assist with daily activities including personal care, mobility, and social interactions.
• Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
• Collaborate with other professionals, including speech therapists and occupational therapists, to support student development.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior for reporting purposes.

Experience:

• Background in special education or experience working with individuals with disabilities is desirable.
• Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development is beneficial.
• Experience in classroom management and behavior management techniques is also a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour
