Job Description – Special Educator

Position: Special Educator

Department: Special Education & Therapy Services

Location: Therapy Centre/Clinic

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and identify children’s educational, developmental, and learning needs.

• Develop and implement individualized education and intervention plans.

• Provide one-to-one and small-group educational support.

• Work on cognitive, academic, attention, memory, and learning skills.

• Support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, learning difficulties, developmental delays, and other special needs.

• Use structured teaching methods, visual aids, activity-based learning, and individualized strategies.

• Monitor and document the child’s progress regularly.

• Maintain session records, progress reports, and intervention plans.

• Coordinate with Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Therapists, and parents.

• Provide parents with appropriate home-based activities and guidance.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute to overall treatment planning.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Special Education or a relevant field.

• RCI registration/certification preferred.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Patience, empathy, and a child-centred approach.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Previous experience with children with special needs is preferred.
