What they need

About DP Electric

DP Electric is a premier commercial electrical contractor with more than 30 years of experience delivering complex electrical projects across Arizona, Texas, and the Southwest. As a 100% employee-owned company, we serve a diverse range of markets including data centers, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, aviation, higher education, commercial, and industrial.

At the heart of DP Electric’s success is its dedication to cultivating industry-leading talent. Through our in-house training program, DP University, we equip employees with advanced skills and expertise to meet the ever-changing demands of modern construction. By combining technical excellence with a client-first approach, we continue to set the standard for electrical contracting in the Southwest.

The Opportunity

The Special Projects Manager runs DP Electric's service department. You will direct, schedule, estimate, and coordinate the daily activity of the department, its resources, and its staff in support of special construction projects, with accountability for whether that work lands profitably.

The seat is strategic as much as operational. You will set the direction of the department, covering market and customer strategy, cost-saving initiatives, and future resource needs, and you will build the policies, Methods of Procedure, quality standards, and service contracts the department works from. Productivity and response times against client expectations are yours to watch.

What You'll Do

Run the Department

  • Direct, schedule, estimate, and coordinate daily activities of the service department, its resources, and its staff in support of special construction projects.
  • Monitor productivity and service response times against client expectations.
  • Manage and mentor team members, assessing skills and expertise to match workforce capability to project requirements.

Set the Direction

  • Set the strategic vision of the department, including market and customer strategy, cost-saving initiatives, and clear communication of future resource needs.
  • Develop the department's annual budget with leadership and manage spend against approved allocations.
  • Develop policies, Methods of Procedure, quality standards, service contracts, and guidelines.

Protect Quality and Compliance

  • Audit special project parameters, specifications, and service and resource requests, confirming completion and approval of all project stages, checklists, and contracts.
  • Hold all work to DP Electric safety and quality assurance protocols.

Partner and Represent

  • Collaborate with operations to develop a comprehensive plan for the use and inventory of services and resources.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on department visibility across social media and advertising.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies that support service quality standards and public relations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Five (5) years of experience in scheduling and delivering services, resource allocation, or a similar role within electrical contracting or construction.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of electrical contracting processes and workforce management best practices.
  • Experience managing service contracts and external vendor operations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills for project documentation and reporting.

We recognize that experience comes from many paths. An equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in successful performance of the job is welcomed. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a one-for-one year basis, or vice versa.

Work Environment

This role is based in the office. Work is primarily at a desk and on a computer, with occasional lifting up to 25 pounds and occasional exposure to noise, dust, and time pressure. Expect a fast-paced environment with concurrent deadlines that calls for sound judgment.

Why DP Electric

  • Competitive pay and bonus target.
  • Comprehensive health benefits: medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) with company match, eligible after one year of service.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). You are an owner of this company.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Access to DP University, our in-house training program built to grow careers.
  • A people-first culture grounded in our core values: Dependable · Opportunity · Raise the Standard · Give Back · Positivity · Family Culture.
