The Specialist, Multimedia supports Essex Property Trust’s visual content needs by coordinating, producing, editing, and maintaining high-quality video, photography, graphic design, and virtual tour assets across digital and physical marketing touchpoints.

This hands-on creative production role emphasizes video post-production and graphic design, transforming raw footage and creative briefs into polished long-form and short-form content, brand-aligned graphics, signage, and print collateral.

The Specialist, Multimedia collaborates with Marketing, Operations, New Development, Redevelopment, Learning & Development, HR, community teams, and external creative partners to deliver accurate, current, and brand-consistent assets.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinate and schedule photography, videography, virtual tour, and other multimedia projects with community teams and vendors, managing access, shot needs, timelines, communication, and delivery requirements.
  • Audit community visual assets to identify content needs and priorities, including floor plans, amenities, photography, video, and Matterport virtual tours.
  • Review external vendor assets for quality, accuracy, brand alignment, and technical requirements, then publish and maintain approved content in PhotoShelter and other approved platforms.
  • Edit raw footage in Adobe Premiere Pro into polished community, corporate, social media, and event content.
  • Create long-form and short-form video versions for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, websites, and other channels, adapting content to platform specifications while maintaining Essex brand standards.
  • Conceptualize and design brand-aligned graphics in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for social media, digital marketing, presentations, flyers, newsletters, property signage, and other print or digital applications.
  • Edit and retouch photography for web, social media, and property marketing while maintaining consistent image quality.
  • Support on-site photography and videography for communities, corporate initiatives, and company events.
  • Collaborate with internal communications, community marketing, digital marketing, and other partners to translate creative briefs and feedback into accurate deliverables.
  • Track basic content performance using Google Analytics, Power BI, and native social platform insights, sharing observations that can improve future creative execution.
  • Stay current on social media formats, Adobe Creative Cloud capabilities, production workflows, and emerging creative technologies that can improve quality and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Film or Video Production, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of professional experience or equivalent internships in multimedia production, video editing, graphic design, creative production, or a related field. Experience in real estate, architecture, hospitality, or multifamily housing is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and Photoshop, with working knowledge of other Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Demonstrated video editing skills, including storytelling, color correction, audio cleanup, graphics, captions, and platform-specific delivery for long-form, short-form, and vertical content.
  • Strong graphic design fundamentals and visual judgment, including vector artwork, typography, layout, image preparation, and production-ready files for digital, print, and signage applications, with close attention to brand consistency.
  • Experience with photography, videography, or multimedia capture and a working understanding of cameras, lenses, lighting, and audio equipment.
  • Strong organizational, project coordination, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, changing priorities, feedback, and deadlines while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to interpret basic performance metrics and translate observations into practical recommendations for content improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • A portfolio or demo reel demonstrating video editing, graphic design, and multimedia production work.

What The Job Requires

  • Work is primarily conducted in an office setting and requires sitting or standing at a workstation for extended periods, with regular use of computers and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday and meet the current in-person office requirement of at least four days per week, Monday through Thursday, at Essex’s corporate office in Irvine.
  • Occasional travel may be required for community photo and video shoots, meetings, training, or conferences.
  • On-site media production may require transporting and setting up standard camera, lighting, stabilization, and audio equipment.

What You Will Bring To The Table

  • No formal supervisory responsibilities. May provide informal technical guidance or training and may coordinate work or assign tasks.
  • Ability to interpret creative briefs, brand standards, and project requirements, solve routine creative and production issues independently, and escalate concerns involving scope, timing, or technical quality when appropriate.
  • A professional, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach, with receptiveness to feedback, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement in visual storytelling and the multifamily industry.
