JOB PROFILE:

Specification Engineer

M.B. Control & Systems is seeking a technically proficient Specification Engineer with strong knowledge

of electrical metering, energy metering, power quality measurement, power systems, and applicable

IEC/IEEE standards.

The candidate will be responsible for reviewing and developing technical specifications, ensuring

compliance with customer and international standards, supporting product approvals, and positioning the

company's products and solutions with consultants, EPC contractors, utilities, renewable energy

developers, and industrial customers.

The role requires a strong understanding of energy meters, multifunction meters, power quality

meters/analyzers, DC metering, Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs), metering accuracy requirements,

power quality parameters, and associated communication and integration requirements.

Key Responsibilities

A. Specification & Technical Documentation:

• Study customer specifications, tender documents, technical requirements, datasheets,

drawings, and applicable standards.

• Prepare and review technical specifications, compliance statements, datasheets, technical

schedules, and product documentation.

• Develop specifications for electrical metering, power quality monitoring, PMUs, automation

systems, Meteorological Systems, and associated solutions.

• Prepare detailed Technical Compliance Statements (TCS) and identify deviations, exceptions,

and clarifications.

• Evaluate customer specifications and select suitable M.B. Control & Systems products and

solutions.

• Review metering requirements including accuracy class, measurement range, CT/PT inputs,

auxiliary supply, communication interfaces, data logging, demand measurement, energy

parameters, and power quality functions.

• Maintain standard specifications, product datasheets, certificates, drawings, test reports, and

approval documentation.

B. Standards & Regulatory Knowledge, Metering & Power Quality:

• The candidate must possess sound technical knowledge of electrical metering and power

quality measurement, including AC & DC Metering, Multifunction Meters, Power Quality

Metering, Phasor Measurement Units, etc.

• The candidate should be capable of interpreting power quality requirements and determining

the appropriate measurement and monitoring solution for a particular application.

• The candidate must have working knowledge of applicable metering and power quality

standards, including relevant requirements of IEC-62052/53, IEC-61000-4-30, IEEE-519,

IEEE C37.118..

• The candidate should be able to interpret these standards and translate their requirements into

appropriate product specifications, compliance statements, and technical proposals.

C. Consultant and Customer Approvals:

• Work with engineering consultants, EPC contractors, utilities, project developers, and end

customers to obtain technical approvals for company products.

• Support registration and inclusion of M.B. Control & Systems in Approved Vendor Lists

(AVL) and approved product lists.

• Prepare and submit technical documentation required for product and vendor approvals.

• Respond to consultant/customer technical comments and specification queries.

• Participate in technical discussions, presentations, clarification meetings, and product

demonstrations.

• Explain metering architecture, accuracy requirements, power quality functionality,

communication capabilities, and applicable standards to customers and consultants.

D. Tender & Proposal Support:

• Review tender specifications and identify technical requirements relevant to the company's

product portfolio.

• Support Sales and Proposal teams in preparing technically compliant offers.
• Perform detailed comparison of customer specifications against product capabilities.
• Identify restrictive or proprietary specifications and recommend technically equivalent

solutions where appropriate.

• Prepare specification comparison sheets, compliance statements, and technical deviation

statements.

• Support pre-bid and post-bid technical clarifications.

• Assist in preparation of system architectures, block diagrams, Bills of Materials, and scope-

of-supply documents.

E. Product and Solution Coverage:

The Specification Engineer will support products and solutions including:

• Energy Meters and Multifunction Meters.
• Power Quality Analyzers.
• DC Energy Metering Systems.
• Phasor Measurement Untis (PMUs).
• Energy Management Systems (EMS).
• Weather Monitoring Stations (WMS) and Automatic Weather Station (AWS).
• Substation Automation Systems (SAS).

F. Business Development and Specification Support

• Work closely with Sales and Business Development teams to identify projects during the

design and specification stage.

• Engage with consultants, EPCs, utilities, developers, and end customers before tender

issuance.

• Conduct online and face-to-face product presentations.

• Assist consultants and customers in developing technically appropriate specifications.

• Work toward specification and approval of M.B. Control & Systems products in upcoming

projects.

• Develop technical comparison documents highlighting product performance, standards

compliance, and engineering advantages.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics and Communication

Engineering.

• Experience: Minimum 3-5 Years relevant experience in electrical metering, power quality

metering, specification engineering, proposal engineering.

• Experience with electrical and power quality metering is strongly preferred.

• Candidate must demonstrate a good understanding of electrical parameters, metering principles,

power quality phenomena, and applicable standards.

• Experience working with EPC contractors, engineering consultants, utilities, renewable energy

developers, or industrial customers will be advantageous.

• Ability to understand electrical/electronic systems and technical specifications.

• Strong technical understanding of metering and power quality.

• Ability to interpret IEC/IEEE standards and customer specifications.

• Excellent technical documentation and specification-writing skills.

• Ability to interact confidently with consultant and customer engineering teams.

• Ability to coordinate across Sales, Engineering, R&D, Projects and Quality departments.

• Willingness to travel for consultant meetings, customer discussions, technical presentations, and

project activities.
