What they need

Join Our Team at The Helix School: Now Hiring a Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist/SLP Clinical Fellow (CF)

Are you passionate about supporting neurodivergent students in unlocking their communication potential? The Helix School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech Language Pathologist or SLP Clinical Fellow (CF) to join our collaborative team for the 2025–2026 school year. You’ll work with small groups of students (ages 5–22) in a therapeutic, multi-disciplinary setting, helping them grow in speech, language, social communication, and confidence.

If you are committed to joyful, relationship-based practice and want to work in a community that celebrates each child’s strengths, we’d love to meet you.

About the Role:

As a Speech Language Pathologist at The Helix School, you’ll be an integral member of our interdisciplinary team, working alongside educators, occupational therapists, counselors, and behavior specialists. This position includes a balance of assessment, direct service, consultation, and collaboration. Your work will support students’ expressive/receptive language, pragmatic communication, articulation, and overall participation in school life. You will also play a critical role in the IEP process, from assessment and goal writing to progress monitoring and team collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment & Individualized Support

  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments as part of the IEP evaluation process.
  • Develop individualized, strengths-based therapy goals and objectives aligned with IEPs.
  • Provide direct therapy (individual and small group) aligned with IEP goals across campus and during community-based instruction.
  • Monitor student progress and prepare quarterly progress reports in accordance with IEP timelines.
  • Support feeding and communication goals during snack, lunch, and naturalistic settings.

IEP and Documentation

  • Attend and contribute to IEP meetings as the speech and language representative.
  • Collaborate with the IEP team to develop legally defensible goals, accommodations, and services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including service logs, therapy notes, and progress reports.

Collaboration & Consultation

  • Partner with teachers and specialists to integrate communication supports into classroom instruction and activities.
  • Coach staff on AAC use, language modeling, and individualized strategies.
  • Provide training and resources for families to support communication development at home.
  • Participate in team meetings, student planning, and case consultations.

Qualifications:

  • Valid California license or credential authorizing service as an SLP (SLP-CF applicants welcome to apply).
  • Demonstrated experience writing and implementing IEPs and participating in IEP meetings.
  • Strongly prefer experience working with neurodivergent students, particularly those with autism.
  • Knowledge of AAC systems and developmental, relationship-based frameworks (e.g., SCERTS, DIR/Floortime) strongly preferred.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Flexible, team-oriented mindset and commitment to student-centered practice.

Why Join Us?

At The Helix School, you’ll work in a supportive, student-centered environment where staff voices matters. We value professional learning, collaboration, and joy. You’ll have time to build relationships, make a difference, and see students thrive across communication, self-advocacy, and connection.

  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week (generally 8:00–4:00)
