About Personal Touch Therapy

Personal Touch Therapy is a therapist-owned pediatric home health agency serving children and families throughout the Houston area. We provide personalized speech, occupational, and physical therapy in children’s homes and other natural environments. Our team is committed to family-centered care, collaboration, and helping every child reach their full potential. We are looking for compassionate, dedicated therapists who want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.

Job Description

Personal Touch Therapy is excited to announce a part-time job opening for a compassionate and motivated speech-language pathologist assistant (SLPA). This crucial role involves providing speech and language therapy services to pediatric patients directly in their homes throughout the Houston area. This position falls under the direct supervision of licensed speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who design each patient's individualized therapy program. The ideal applicant for this opening should be enthusiastic about promoting language development and communication skills, aiming to make significant differences in the lives of children. Please note, this position is not a remote job and requires travel to patients' homes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide speech and language therapy services to pediatric patients in their homes, daycares, Head Starts, or ABA centers under the guidance and supervision of a licensed SLP.
  • Carefully implement individualized treatment plans as developed by supervising SLPs.
  • Engage with children on multiple aspects of communication, including expressive and receptive language skills, articulation, vocabulary, sentence structure, functional communication, and social skills.
  • Meticulously collect and document data concerning patient performance and progress.
  • Complete and submit detailed treatment notes and other necessary documentation promptly.
  • Facilitate effective communication between supervising SLPs, family members, caregivers, and other integral members of the child’s therapeutic team.
  • Equip parents and caregivers with tools and activities to aid in continuing communication development outside of therapy sessions.
  • Adhere to strict patient confidentiality guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
  • Develop and prepare therapeutic activities and materials that are engaging and appropriate for various developmental stages.
  • Travel to patient homes within the designated service area of Houston.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field, complying with SLPA licensure requirements.
  • Current or eligible for a Texas Speech-Language Pathology Assistant license.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple patient homes.
  • Previous experience working with pediatric populations is highly preferred.
  • Preferred experience in early language development, functional communication, articulation, and social communication.
  • Preferred experience with children who present developmental or communication challenges.
  • Capability to establish trust and positive interactions with children and their families.
