What they need

Think beyond the usual Speech Pathology role. Here, your caseload can take you from complex infant feeding and paediatric diagnostics to oncology, voice, swallowing and adult rehabilitation — with outreach and telehealth taking your skills into regional and remote communities.
You’ll be part of a connected CQHHS network spanning Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Mount Morgan, with opportunities to travel, learn from different clinical environments and make your mark on service improvement. Add professional leave and development allowances, and you’ve got plenty of room to grow.
Not qualified? No worries! Upcoming graduates awaiting conferral of qualifications and registration are encouraged to apply.

About us:

The Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Mount Morgan Speech Pathology Department is an innovative service delivering speech pathology care across the lifespan, from complex infant feeding and paediatric diagnostics through to adult rehabilitation, oncology, voice, swallowing and palliative care. Care extends beyond hospital walls through outreach and telehealth to rural and regional communities and patients in their homes.

As part of the wider CQHHS Speech Pathology network, the team works across sites including Rockhampton, Gladstone, Emerald and Biloela, sharing clinical expertise, professional leadership and a strong focus on innovation, education and advancing speech pathology practice across Central Queensland.

About the role:

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care to adults and children with communication and swallowing disorders across hospital, community and other clinical settings.
  • Assess, diagnose and treat complex presentations using evidence-based practice, sound clinical judgement, established protocols and effective risk management.
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, supporting person-centred care and coordinated services for patients, families and caregivers.
  • Contribute to service improvement and management, including caseload planning, quality improvement initiatives, professional development and participation in the seven-day service.

About you:

  • Recognised Speech Pathology qualification and eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia; Upcoming graduates awaiting qualification and registration are encouraged to apply.
  • Bring knowledge and practical skills in supporting both adults and children with communication and swallowing needs across different stages of care.
  • Organise competing priorities, manage routine caseloads efficiently and use initiative to work independently while knowing when to seek support.
  • Build positive relationships with patients, families, colleagues and other professionals, while contributing meaningfully to multidisciplinary care and supporting students and developing clinicians.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $132,567 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $43.97 - $58.59 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

Additional Benefits:

  • Ongoing Professional Development and Education Opportunities
  • Opportunities for regional/remote travel
  • Professional leave and development allowances
  • Flexible Work-Life Balance and Variety
  • Generous Salary Sacrificing Options
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Discounted Private Health Insurance
  • Fitness Passport

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements:

It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases as listed on the Role Description.

How to apply:
