What they need
There’s a place for you in our little corner of Tasmania.
Here in the Huon Valley, we have families who need support, a team who care deeply about them, and room for a speech pathologist who’d like to get involved.
You can bring your expertise from wherever you are in Australia. We’ll introduce you to the people who make this place special.
We’re Beanies Family Support.
We’re a small, family-oriented team built around our community.
For us, that means getting to know people. Finding out what matters to a child, what’s becoming hard for a parent, and what might help the week go a little better. It means making room for different personalities, different ways of communicating, and the occasional session that takes an unexpected turn.
Our work brings together allied health, counselling, support work and practical family support. We’re looking for an experienced Speech Pathologist who wants to be part of that.
Your expertise, with someone local alongside you.
Our Senior Speech Pathologist brings an extraordinary depth of knowledge and experience to Beanies.
For an experienced Speech Pathologist, this is an opportunity to work alongside a senior clinical peer, share ideas and help shape the future of our Speech Pathology service.
For a new graduate or early-career clinician, it is an opportunity to learn within a service where experienced support is practical, accessible and connected to the real work not simply promised in an induction pack.
A big part of our telehealth approach is our local Allied Health Assistants.
They’re there in person, getting to know the child, building trust with the family and helping bring your clinical guidance into the room. They can support sessions and carry agreed strategies into the days between appointments, under your direction.
You bring the clinical reasoning, assessment and therapy planning. They bring hands-on support and observations from everyday life. Together, you work out what’s helping and what needs to change.
That relationship matters here. We’re looking for someone who enjoys teaching, listens to what others notice, and takes pride in helping the people around a child feel more confident.
There’s room for creativity, too. A favourite game, a strange new interest or something found around the house might be just what you need to get a session going.
What you’ll be doing.
Your work may include:
- Telehealth assessments, therapy and reviews for children and young people.
- Coaching parents and carers in strategies that fit their family’s routines.
- Developing clear, practical therapy plans and useful reports.
- Guiding our AHAs through appropriate delegation, shared planning and regular review.
- Working with educators and others involved in a person’s support.
We’ll shape the caseload around your experience, strengths and agreed availability. Your judgement matters, including recognising when someone needs a different approach or an in-person service.
We’d like to get to know you.
You care about doing good clinical work and making it useful beyond the appointment.
You can explain an idea in everyday language, welcome a question, and adapt when a family tells you something won’t work for them. You’re comfortable with technology and thoughtful about how to make a session engaging through a screen.
You also communicate reliably, keep clear records and follow through. Those things help a team spread across different locations feel connected.
In return, you’ll have local administration and coordination support, established AHAs to work alongside, and involved directors you can pick up the phone to.
We’re still growing Beanies. If you see a way we could support families better, we want to hear it—and work through it with you.
The practical details.
- $95 per hour, plus GST where applicable.
- Contractor arrangement, working remotely from within Australia.
- Permanent employment options and in clinic options available too.
- Availability and a manageable caseload agreed together.
- Scope, payable clinical and documentation time, cancellations, invoicing and payment terms agreed in writing before you start.
You’ll need a recognised Speech Pathology qualification, current Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status, relevant experience with children and families, an ABN, appropriate professional insurance and relevant screening checks.
