Speech Therapy Assistant

Job Overview

As a Speech Therapy Assistant, you’ll support speech-language pathology services for children and other individuals with communication needs. You’ll help implement speech-language therapy plans, reinforce communication strategies, and share observations with the supervising speech-language pathologist. Work may take place in a school, pediatric, early intervention, or telehealth setting, depending on the role.

Duties

• Assist with speech therapy activities addressing speech disorders and language disorders, following the supervising clinician’s plan.
• Support children’s language development and work with students, including students with disabilities; adapt activities to individual needs.
• Communicate respectfully with clients, families, educators, and care teams; document observations and report progress or concerns to the supervisor.
• Collaborate with professionals in speech-language pathology and related disciplines, including through telehealth when appropriate.
• Follow applicable care, privacy, and safety procedures across assigned settings.

Experience

• Relevant speech-language pathology or speech therapy assistant education, credentials, and authorization as required for the work setting and jurisdiction.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and speech-language therapy plan implementation.
• Experience working with children, individuals with disabilities, or students with disabilities; school experience, acute care experience, pediatrics, and early intervention are valuable.
• Familiarity with IEPs (Individualized Education Programs), client communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration is helpful.
• Bilingual ability is a plus.

Pay: $60.00 - $90.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 35.0 per week
