What they need

At MindWave, we’re not just building teams. We’re building a new way of working. We’re creating a community of experts who thrive in a transparent, human, and forward-thinking environment.

We are currently looking for a Splunk & Linux System Engineer to support Linux-based IT infrastructure and the Splunk platform. This role combines hands-on Linux system engineering with Splunk administration and engineering to support a major player in the European energy landscape.

Mission & Service Overview

In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining a sustainable, reliable, and secure infrastructure. You will manage Linux systems and Splunk services, ensuring high availability, rapid incident resolution, and continuous improvement.

A key focus of this position is designing, implementing, and optimizing Splunk solutions (data onboarding, forwarders, indexes, sourcetypes, dashboards, and alerts), while maintaining and automating the supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment

Key Activities & Responsibilities

Splunk Platform Engineering: Design, implement, and improve Splunk solutions including data onboarding (Universal/Heavy Forwarders), indexes, sourcetypes, parsing, dashboards, reports, and alerts.

Linux Infrastructure Management: Handle the end-to-end lifecycle management, provisioning, patching, and tuning of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (or equivalent) environments using tools like Red Hat Satellite.

Automation & IaC: Drive automation using Ansible Automation Platform, Bash/Python scripting, and Git-based CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Azure DevOps) to standardize configurations.

Operations & Incident Resolution: Resolve incidents and service requests using Splunk and OS-level diagnostics; perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes within ITIL-aligned processes.

R&D & Platform Evolution: Evaluate new Splunk capabilities, apps, and add-ons; build solution prototypes; and integrate containerized environments (Podman/OCI) and security logging pipelines.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience managing Linux infrastructure in large-scale enterprise environments, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience administering production Splunk environments.
  • Core Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in SPL (Search Processing Language), Splunk health monitoring, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ansible, and Git workflows.
  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Practical understanding of container ecosystems (Podman), VMware virtual environments, NetApp storage, and basic operational knowledge of network/security platforms (Palo Alto, Check Point, F5, InfoBlox).
  • Process Alignment: Familiarity with ITIL-aligned operational frameworks (incident, problem, and change management).
  • Language Requirements: Full professional proficiency in French or Dutch, paired with professional working proficiency in English.

Soft Skills and MindWave Mindset

At MindWave, we value people who are not only strong in what they do, but also in how they work with others.

  • You take ownership and feel comfortable working with a high level of autonomy. You don’t wait for perfect instructions before moving forward: you explore, challenge assumptions, and turn ideas into working solutions.
  • You combine thoroughness with pragmatism and communicate openly when you see opportunities, risks, or better ways of doing things. You enjoy collaborating across disciplines and can explain complex technical ideas clearly.
  • Curiosity is part of how you work. You’re interested in new technologies, eager to experiment, and happy to share what you learn with the wider community.
  • Above all, you value transparency, trust, and human connection. Because at MindWave, we believe the best results come from strong experts who are given the freedom and support to do meaningful work.

Benefits

  • Impact in the Energy Sector: Work on ground-breaking technologies that drive the energy transition and build a more sustainable future.
  • A True Community of Experts: Benefit from natural and planned knowledge-sharing moments, such as brown bag sessions on AI, innovation, and emerging technology topics.
  • Workplace Well-being & Inclusion: Join a diverse, motivated, and collaborative team that prioritizes well-being, diversity, and mutual support.
  • Flexible Working Culture: Combines remote flexibility with meaningful connection to your team. (Location: Schaerbeek, Brussels).
  • Transparent Package: Competitive employee package or full transparency on rates and fees for freelancers (no surprises, just fairness).
