Spray Painter

• Prepare truck and trailer surfaces for painting, including sanding, cleaning, masking and priming.
• Spray paint truck and trailer bodies, chassis, components and other manufactured or repaired parts.
• Mix and match paint colours according to specifications and manufacturer requirements.
• Apply primers, basecoats and topcoats to achieve a high-quality finish.
• Perform touch-ups, repairs and refinishing where required.
• Ensure paintwork is smooth, even and free from defects such as runs, orange peel, overspray and uneven coverage.
• Operate and maintain spray-painting equipment, spray guns and related tools.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures relating to paint and chemical handling.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets company quality standards.
• Work closely with the production and workshop teams to meet deadlines and production targets.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience as a Spray Painter, preferably within the truck, trailer, automotive or manufacturing industry.
• Experience spraying large commercial vehicles, trucks, trailers or heavy-duty equipment will be highly advantageous.
• Good knowledge of paint preparation, mixing and application techniques.
• Ability to prepare surfaces correctly before painting.
• Good understanding of different paint systems and finishing techniques.
• Ability to identify and correct paint defects.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Matric/Grade 12 or relevant technical qualification will be advantageous.
