What we are looking for

Calling all - SQL Server DBA, Senior DBA, Database Engineer, Data Platform Consultant, SQL Server Consultant.

We are looking for top performing talent with 5+ years hands-on SQL Server administration in production, ideally in consulting or managed services supporting multiple clients.

Location: Gauteng preferred (Johannesburg, Pretoria, Midrand, Centurion, Sandton). Remote-capable candidates elsewhere in South Africa are acceptable.

You have supported SQL Server in production for five or more years, and you can show us:

• SQL Server across versions 2012 to 2025: installs, patching and upgrades.
• Performance tuning: execution plans, indexing, waits and Query Store.
• High availability and disaster recovery: Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, log shipping, replication.
• Backup and restore strategy, and testing that you can recover.
• Migrations and upgrades between versions or platforms.
• Strong T-SQL, and automation with PowerShell or T-SQL.
• Work with clients: explaining a problem plainly, support under an SLA or managed service, and standby or after-hours cover.

It helps if you have supported more than one client, in consulting or managed services

Also useful, none of it required: certifications and exposure to tools such as:

• MCSA, MCSE or DP-300
• Azure SQL Managed Instance
• Azure SQL Database or SQL Server on Azure VMs
• AWS RDS
• DBAtools
• Ola Hallengren maintenance script
• Redgate, SolarWinds or Idera monitoring
• SSRS, SSIS, SSAS or Power BI
• Hyper-V or VMware
• PostgreSQL.

The work

You look after SQL Server estates for clients, and keep them running, fast and recoverable. That means installs, patching and upgrades, tuning, designing and testing availability and recovery, migrations, and automating routine jobs. You speak to clients directly.

We receive a lot of applications and can only reply to people we would like to speak to. If you have not heard from us within two weeks, your application has not been successful this time. Thank you.
