Senior SQL Server Developer (Financial Services)

We're looking for a Senior SQL Server Developer to join a highly experienced technology team supporting critical data, reporting and regulatory systems within a financial services environment.

This role is centred on advanced SQL Server development rather than cloud engineering, data science or AI initiatives. You'll be responsible for the design, development and optimisation of complex database solutions, ETL processes and reporting capabilities that support key business functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain SQL Server database solutions
• Write and optimise complex T-SQL including stored procedures, views, functions and triggers
• Develop and support SSIS packages and ETL processes
• Work with SSRS and reporting solutions where required
• Support data warehousing and regulatory reporting initiatives
• Gather requirements directly from business stakeholders and translate them into technical solutions
• Troubleshoot performance issues and drive database optimisation
• Contribute to database architecture, standards and best practice

Essential Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a SQL Server Developer
• Advanced T-SQL development skills
• Extensive experience with SQL Server, SSIS and SSRS
• Database design, optimisation and performance tuning
• Data warehousing and ETL development experience
• Experience within Financial Services, Banking, Asset Management or Investment Management preferred
• Strong stakeholder communication skills

Nice to Have

• SSAS experience
• Python
• Azure Databricks
• Regulatory reporting exposure
• Experience working in Agile environments

Please note: This position is focused on SQL Server development and database engineering. Candidates whose recent experience is primarily centred around Azure, Cloud Architecture, AI/ML or Data Engineering platforms may be less aligned to the core requirements of the role.
