SQL Server Architect

Role & responsibilities

• Design and lead SQL Server database architecture for enterprise and cloud environments.
• Develop scalable, secure, highly available database solutions across SQL Server, Azure SQL, and hybrid environments.
• Lead SQL Server migration, modernization, consolidation, and cloud transformation projects.
• Define HLD/LLD, architecture standards, database design, HA/DR, backup, recovery, and RPO/RTO strategies.
• Drive performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, capacity planning, and scalability.
• Design and manage Always On, replication, failover, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Implement database automation and DevOps using PowerShell, Python, Terraform, CI/CD, and Azure DevOps.
• Establish database security, governance, monitoring, compliance, and operational standards.
• Collaborate with Application, Cloud, DevOps, Security, Data, and Enterprise Architecture teams.
• Provide technical leadership, architecture reviews, mentoring, and resolution of complex database issues.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in SQL Server DBA, Database Engineering, Database Architecture, or Cloud Database Architecture.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and SQL Server Management Studio.
• Strong experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Data Factory, and Azure cloud services.
• Expertise in Always On Availability Groups, HA/DR, replication, backup/recovery, failover, RPO/RTO, and disaster recovery.
• Strong database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, execution plans, and capacity planning experience.
• Experience with SQL Server migration, cloud migration, database modernization, and large-scale enterprise databases.
• Knowledge of PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD, Git, and Azure DevOps.
• Strong understanding of database security, encryption, IAM/RBAC, monitoring, governance, and compliance.
• Excellent solution architecture, technical leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Azure Database Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, AWS, or SQL Server certifications are an advantage.
