Duration: 6-Week Contract (35 hours per week w/ potential to extend into Phase 1)

Compensation: $70/hr - $75/hr (DOE)

About the Engagement

We are partnering with a global aerospace manufacturer to execute a time-boxed data warehousing scoping assessment. This is a high-visibility, fast-moving engagement with a clear mandate: validate existing data warehouse coverage, close targeted integration gaps, and deliver a proof-of-value MVP — all within a 6-week window. The work will directly support the automation of a critical financial reporting package used by executive leadership and private equity ownership.

This is not a maintenance role. You will be doing real, hands-on integration work in a complex, multi-source environment alongside a small, experienced team.

What You'll Be Doing

• Validate existing SQL Server data warehouse coverage against a defined set of financial and operational reporting metrics across 16 global sites
• Conduct source-to-target field mapping and gap analysis across multiple legacy ERP and MES systems (Epicor, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Sightline, Infor BAAN, and others)
• Assess connectivity options for non-linked-server source systems — design and prove out extraction paths including edge cases
• Build and deliver a proof-of-value MVP — one reporting page automated end-to-end into the existing warehouse, reconciled within agreed tolerance
• Develop and document ETL pipelines using SSIS within the existing data warehouse architecture
• Contribute to documentation baseline — schema diagrams, data flow documentation, data dictionary
• Support the delivery of a prioritized Phase 1 roadmap and fixed-price proposal based on findings

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 8+ years of hands-on data engineering experience
• Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server — query writing, stored procedures, performance tuning, schema design
• Strong SSIS experience — building and troubleshooting ETL pipelines in production environments
• Experience integrating data from multiple disparate ERP systems (Epicor, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar)
• Proven ability to work in environments with minimal documentation — you can reverse-engineer a data model and figure out where data lives
• Strong communication skills — you'll be working directly with client SMEs and need to translate technical findings into clear, actionable language
• U.S.-based (required)

Preferred:

• Experience with financial data warehousing — GL accounts, AR, AP, revenue, cost of goods
• Manufacturing or aerospace industry background
• Familiarity with PowerBI or SSAS (validation and boundary awareness — not building)
• Experience with legacy systems such as FoxPro, AS/400, Access, or homegrown MES environments
• Spanish language skills (helpful for coordination with a Mexico-based site team)

What Success Looks Like

At the end of 6 weeks you will have delivered a validated gap analysis, a working MVP reporting page reconciled to source, and a clear roadmap for Phase 1. The client will have enough information to make a confident, informed decision on a full-scale build engagement. You'll be a key reason that happens.
