Senior Accountant

Location: Houston, TX (Northwest Houston - Cypress/Cy-Fair area) | Hybrid

Compensation: $85,000–$90,000

Summary:

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in general ledger accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting. This position will also partner with teams across the organization to resolve accounting issues, support internal and external audits, and strengthen accounting processes and control

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure accurate and complete recording of financial transactions.
• Own and reconcile complex balance sheet accounts, including accruals, leases, insurance, fixed assets, intercompany, and project-related accounts.
• Perform general ledger account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Review and analyze lease agreements to ensure appropriate accounting classification, measurement, and disclosure while maintaining accurate lease records.
• Research and resolve intercompany variances by partnering with accounting and finance teams across the organization.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, discrepancies, and potential accounting issues.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial and operational reporting, including key working capital metrics.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and analysis related to operating working capital and variance analysis.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reconciliations for fixed asset-related accounts across multiple entities.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities to ensure deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
• Assist with internal and external audit requests, including preparation of supporting documentation and schedules.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and overall efficiency.
• Document accounting processes and procedures and assist with maintaining internal accounting documentation.
• Partner cross-functionally to research and resolve accounting and reporting issues.
• Provide support for ad hoc financial analysis, reporting requests, and special projects as needed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Three or more years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger accounting and account reconciliation experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and demonstrated ability to research, understand, and communicate accounting issues.
• Experience working within an ERP system, such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or a similar platform, in a high-volume environment.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, researching issues, and making informed recommendations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
• Dependable, accountable, and able to take ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule in Houston, TX and travel occasionally as needed.
• Nice-to-Haves-Experience with lease accounting, fixed assets, intercompany accounting, and/or working capital reporting.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000–$90,000 , depending on experience and qualifications.
