Sr. Advance Engineer - Electrical Estimator

Job Purpose and Scope

The Senior Advance Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for accurately estimating project cost and resource requirements for electrical engineering tasks, ensuring that all estimates align with project requirements.

Qualifications & Competencies needed:

• 10 years and above relevant work experience
• Professional License – Electrical Engineer
• Tender Document Analysis: Ability to comprehensively analyze tender documents including specifications, drawings, schedules, and terms to understand project requirements.
• Bid Evaluation: Capability to evaluate bid opportunities, considering factors such as project scope, risks, and profitability.
• Cost Estimation: Ability to estimate project costs based on materials, labor, equipment, overhead, and contingencies.
• Quantitative Analysis: Ability to perform quantitative analysis of project requirements, including material take-offs and quantity surveys.
• Market Intelligence: Capability to gather and analyze market intelligence, including pricing trends, competitor analysis, and industry benchmarks to inform bidding strategies.
• Negotiation Skills: Proficiency in negotiating with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to achieve favorable terms and conditions.
• Risk Analysis and Mitigation: Ability to identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks associated with tendering activities, including technical, financial, and contractual risks.
• Contract Management: Knowledge of contract terms and conditions, including requirements for bonds and insurances, variations, payment conditions and claims.
• Ethical Conduct: Demonstrating ethical conduct and integrity in all tendering activities, adhering to company policies and industry standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Commitment to continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to enhance tendering processes, efficiency, and effectiveness.
• Estimating Software Proficiency: Mastery of estimating software tools such as Candy, Pronamics, or Planswift to facilitate efficient and accurate estimation processes.
• Understanding of Construction Methods: Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques to accurately assess project requirements and costs.
• Value Engineering: Ability to conduct value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and meeting project objectives.
• Cost-Benefit Analysis: Proficiency in conducting cost-benefit analysis to evaluate the feasibility and viability of tender opportunities and potential risks.
• Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements: Understanding of regulatory requirements, building codes, and industry standards relevant to tendering activities in specific geographic regions or sectors.
• Subcontractor and Supplier Management: Ability to evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of goods and services.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze tender documents to understand project specifications, requirements, and evaluation criteria.
• Oversee the overall electrical components of the tender, ensuring that requirements align with project needs.
• Identify necessary resources (equipment, personnel, and materials) required to fulfill the tender requirements.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers from other disciplines, and procurement teams to gather necessary information and align proposals.
