Senior Product Manager, Internal AI Innovation

Contract to hire, hybrid 2 days/week in Raleigh, NC

Summary

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the development of AI-powered products designed to improve internal workflows, productivity, and decision-making. Embedded within the Legal department, this role will partner with stakeholders to identify unmet needs and deliver practical AI solutions from ideation through launch and post-launch optimization. The ideal candidate has 6–7+ years of product management experience, strong AI fluency, and a proven track record of taking products from concept to launch and beyond. This role also offers the opportunity to share successful approaches and reusable solutions with other internal innovation teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the full product lifecycle, from ideation and discovery through product strategy, development, launch, adoption, and post-launch iteration.
• Partner with Legal stakeholders to understand complex workflows, customer needs, pain points, and opportunities for AI-driven improvements.
• Define product vision, desired outcomes, roadmaps, priorities, and success metrics for internal AI products.
• Identify high-value opportunities where AI can improve productivity, decision-making, and operational efficiency.
• Proactively uncover unmet needs and develop solutions that address problems stakeholders may not have explicitly identified.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and technical teams to translate product opportunities into clear requirements, specifications, and deliverable outcomes.
• Apply AI tools and modern development practices to accelerate product discovery, development, testing, and delivery.
• Evaluate AI capabilities pragmatically, focusing on practical business value, current limitations, feasibility, and measurable impact.
• Establish adoption, satisfaction, and performance metrics to evaluate product success and guide continuous improvement.
• Balance speed, technical feasibility, risk, and scalability when making product decisions.
• Document successful approaches, reusable components, and lessons learned to support broader adoption across internal innovation teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and senior leaders to align product initiatives with business objectives.
• Promote a humble, collaborative, outcomes-driven culture focused on solving meaningful problems rather than individual recognition.

Qualifications

• 6–7+ years of professional product management experience, with Product Manager titles on your resume.
• Proven ownership of one or more products or product suites throughout the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through launch and post-launch optimization.
• Demonstrated success launching new products, ventures, or solutions from concept to production.
• Strong familiarity with generative AI tools, AI-enabled products, agents, workflow automation, and modern AI product concepts.
• Ability to explain how AI was applied in products you have helped develop and the business outcomes it achieved.
• Experience translating complex or ambiguous business problems into product vision, roadmaps, requirements, and measurable outcomes.
• Strong customer discovery skills, including workflow mapping, stakeholder interviews, problem framing, and opportunity identification.
• Experience partnering closely with engineering teams to deliver software products in Agile environments.
• Familiarity with spec-driven development and emerging AI-assisted software development practices.
• Ability to evaluate AI capabilities realistically and identify where AI creates practical value in development and end-user experiences.
• Strong analytical skills and experience defining success metrics, measuring adoption, and iterating based on performance data.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in complex, cross-functional enterprise environments.
• Legal industry or legal workflow experience is strongly preferred, given the specialized needs and processes of the embedded team.
• Humble, curious, proactive, and motivated by team outcomes; comfortable challenging assumptions and identifying solutions beyond the initial request.

The salary range for this position is 70/hr to 85/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
