Sr. Java Developer with DevOps Summary

We are seeking a Sr. Developer to join an enablement team focused on migrating Java apps from JBoss to WildFly and onto Amazon EKS.  This developer will check each app’s dependencies, interfaces, and risk, modernize the code, and ensure it runs cleanly on Kubernetes.  Work is remote with daily standups.

Responsibilities

• Migrate Java/Jakarta EE apps from JBoss to WildFly and Amazon EKS.
• Assess apps, dependencies, interfaces, and migration risks before moving them.
• Reduce vulnerabilities through library, framework, and platform upgrades.
• Troubleshoot production issues, find root causes, and tune performance.
• Mentor teammates and communicate clearly with other teams.

Requirements

• Strong Java and Jakarta EE skills.
• Experience modernizing apps with Spring and Spring Boot.
• Deep understanding of Maven (parent POMs, BOMs, dependency management, plugin config).
• Experience building and integrating REST APIs.
• Experience using AI tools daily including building custom AI skills.

Preferred

• Experience running production apps on Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with JBoss/WildFly admin, config, and deployment.
• Experience fixing JBoss-to-WildFly compatibility issues.
• Expertise in using SOLID principles to write clean, low-complexity code.
• Experience championing automated testing and quality.
