Summary

The Sr. Controller will plan, direct, and report on the accounting operations and financial results of the company(s). In addition, the role is expected to become a strategic partner to the ownership and senior management of the company.

Key Activities

• Oversees the operations and effectiveness of the Accounting Department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, cash forecasting, and payroll.
• Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
• Motivate, support, and provide guidance to employees.
• Monitors operations productivity and provides constructive information, feedback, and coaching.
• Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
• Assist in the handling of employee discipline in accordance with company policy.
• In combination with the H/R Director, evaluate benefits programs for employees that ensure high-quality coverage at a cost-effective rate.
• Oversee the company’s commercial insurance programs.
• Actively participate in the credit status and collections of customer receivables as needed.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Oversees the production of periodic (monthly, quarterly, and annual) financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
• Utilizes “accrual” accounting for the company, as well as “cash basis” accounting
• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
• Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on productivity and efficiency, capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Provides information necessary for the accurate preparation of Company tax returns.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Ensures that bank reconciliations are completed monthly for all company bank accounts.
• Prepares and reviews a Cash Forecast with the CFO on a regular basis.
• Actively participates in the collection of Accounts Receivable as needed.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Preferred Skills

• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient in accounting software, ideally QuickBooks Online.

Educations & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Ten years or more of related experience required.
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation is beneficial.
