The Opportunity PBS Services LLC is hiring a skilled Sr. Electronic Security Technician to support commercial and industrial security projects throughout Michigan, northern Ohio, and surrounding regional markets. We're looking for a technician who can take ownership of installations, independently troubleshoot complex systems, and confidently commission commercial access control, surveillance, and intrusion alarm equipment.

This position offers the independence of working from home to assigned project sites, a company vehicle, exposure to diverse commercial environments, and opportunities to grow into field leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and commission commercial access control, CCTV, intrusion alarm, and intercom systems.
  • Complete security installations and retrofits at financial institutions and other commercial facilities.
  • Program controllers, cameras, network-connected devices, and integrated security systems.
  • Diagnose hardware, wiring, software, and network connectivity issues.
  • Interpret construction plans, schematics, and system diagrams.
  • Coordinate daily project activities with contractors, project managers, and customer representatives.
  • Independently handle service assignments or work alongside other technicians on larger installations.
  • Maintain installation records, service documentation, and equipment configurations.
  • Help train developing technicians and maintain installation quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial electronic security or low-voltage installation experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in commercial access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarms, and system troubleshooting.
  • Ability to program and commission security equipment without constant supervision.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, PoE, switches, and IP-connected systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and installation plans.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle eligibility requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Michigan, Ohio, and surrounding states, including overnight stays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Pacom, Keyscan, Digital Watchdog, Hanwha, Axis, PDK, Honeywell, Bosch, or DMP.
  • Security system manufacturer certifications.
  • Previous experience leading projects or mentoring technicians.

Compensation & Benefits

  • 25–32+ per hour, based on experience.
  • Performance-based and annual bonus opportunities.
  • Weekly pay and overtime opportunities.
  • Medical insurance.
  • Dental and vision reimbursement benefits.
  • Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
  • Company vehicle, paid lodging, and travel expenses.
  • Company-supported per diem arrangements.
  • Company-provided technology, uniforms, and safety equipment.
  • Paid training and employee referral bonuses.

Travel & Work Environment

  • Technicians typically dispatch from home to project locations rather than reporting daily to a central office.
  • Projects include work throughout the Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Lansing regions, with travel across Michigan and northern Ohio as needed. Multi-day assignments and overnight travel are part of the position.
  • Work is primarily commercial installation and retrofit projects, with a mix of independent work and team-based installations.
