Sr. Fire Alarm Systems Designer

3Vi is dynamic engineering practice with offices throughout the U.S. West Coast. We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Fire Alarm Systems Designer to join our team.

Role Description

This is a full-time role based in San Jose, CA. The successful candidate will support the design and development of fire alarm and detection systems, including system layouts, circuits, riser diagrams, schematics, and sequences of operation, in accordance with CBC, CEC/NEC, and NFPA 72.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire alarm and detection system layouts in accordance with CBC, CEC/NEC, NFPA 72, and project requirements
• Read and interpret fire alarm requirements derived from codes, criteria, and specifications
• Prepare fire alarm layout drawings and schematics
• Support development of fire alarm riser diagrams, circuiting, and sequences of operation
• Coordinate fire alarm design with electrical and other engineering disciplines
• Participate in multidisciplinary design coordination meetings

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems is required
• California Professional Engineer license in Electrical Engineering preferred
• 7+ years of experience in fire alarm and fire detection system design, including development and review of design layouts, schematics, riser diagrams, circuiting, and sequences of operation
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, California Building Code, and CEC/NEC requirements applicable to fire alarm systems
• Experience interpreting and applying project specifications, design criteria, and code requirements
• Experience in communications systems design is a plus
• Proficiency in reading, developing, and reviewing engineering drawings

Salary

$145,000 - $185,000 per year depending on experience.
