Sr Java Developer

About The Role The role is based in the Pune R&D Centre, at SAS R&D Pune facility. For this role, you will join the SAS9 team. We are looking for a Java developer to develop and maintain the SAS9 middle tier platform and services. You will help with plan and design work and take responsibility for large parts of the application. Furthermore, you will be joining a friendly team with a broad range of experience, to develop and maintain SAS 9.4 Solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

• Your primary responsibility will be to enhance, maintain, fix customer and security issues with multiple products and services under SAS 9 foundation.
• Work with customers and technical support for resolution of issues related to functionality, security and performance.
• Become actively involved in daily operations and duties as needed to meet schedules or resolve complex problems or issues.
• Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization’s secure software development goals.
• Mentor junior team members and help them to resolve technical challenges.
• 6-14 years’ relevant experience.
• Excellent programming skills with Java, Spring, Hibernate.
• Understanding of Groovy is an added advantage.
• Expertise in working on Database centric applications and knowledge of SQL with Postgres, Oracle
• Understanding of OOPs, Design Patterns, SOLID principles.
• Understanding of build tools like Ant, Maven.
• Knowledge of Security concepts, Tool such as Snyk, Blackduck etc
• Knowledge of Enterprise Security applications like IBM Virtual Identity Access (IVIA)/WebSeal, SiteMinder and Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA).
• Familiarity with security principles such as FIPS, TLS, Certificate and Private Key infrastructure.
• Experience with fast paced Agile software development methodologies.
• Good debugging skills, logical problem-solving capability, quick and self-learner to adopt and use new technologies.
• Experience with unit, regression, and integration testing.
• Understanding of JSP and JavaScript is an added advantage.
• Aptitude to work with large Legacy code bases
• Use of AI Dev tool (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude code etc)

Good exposure to design and development of mid-tier services, REST APIs, Java ecosystem.

• Knowledge of OOPs, Design Patterns, SOLID principles.
• Excellent programming skills with Java, Spring, Hibernate.
• Expertise in working on Database centric applications and knowledge of SQL with Postgres, Oracle
• Demonstrated experience with unit, regression, and integration testing with large software portfolio
• Comfortable working on Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Good debugging skills, logical problem-solving capability, quick and self-learner to adopt and use new technologies.
• Experience with Apache HTTP Server and Tomcat.
