Sr. Manager, Data Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space.

This role will lead a data engineering team responsible for shaping the architecture, standards, and delivery of a modern data platform. The person in this role will partner closely with technical and business stakeholders to define capabilities that support reliable, high-quality data use across the organization. Success in this position will depend on balancing hands-on technical judgment with people leadership, governance, and continuous improvement in a regulated environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $192,825 – $220,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a team of data engineers
• Guide architecture and implementation decisions
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define platform capabilities
• Establish data platform standards and governance practices
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions using AWS technologies
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices
• Communicate technical decisions and trade-offs to stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields
• 5+ years of experience in people management roles
• Proven experience leading data engineering teams or departments
• Knowledge of AWS services and production data pipelines
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for technical evaluations
• Experience implementing data quality and regulatory controls
