Job Overview

Duties

• Review and analyze medical records, documentation, and clinical notes to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes.
• Ensure coding accuracy in accordance with Medical Coding Guidelines, CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) regulations, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve record quality for precise coding.
• Utilize advanced Medical Coding Software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to abstract data, manage electronic health records (EHR), and support billing processes.
• Perform Medical Record Abstraction for inpatient and outpatient services, ensuring completeness and compliance for billing purposes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology, and relevant coding updates to ensure ongoing accuracy.
• Support Revenue Cycle Management by verifying that coded data aligns with billing requirements and facilitates timely claims submission.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Medical Coder with expertise in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, HCPCS, DRG assignment, and Medical Billing procedures.
• Strong understanding of Medical Records management, Medical Coding Guidelines, EHR systems, and EMR management for billing purposes.
• Familiarity with CMS regulations and guidelines governing medical coding for inpatient services.
• Proficiency in using Medical Coding Software tools along with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for accurate data entry and management.
• Excellent knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology, and related clinical concepts essential for precise coding.
• Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately while adhering to strict compliance standards.
• Prior experience in Medical Record Abstraction and Revenue Cycle Management is highly desirable.

Pay: $25.96 - $31.00 per hour
