Inpatient Coding Requirements - Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in:

• ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code assignment
• Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting (Inpatient)
• MS-DRG and APR-DRG reimbursement methodologies
• Discharge disposition assignment
• Physician query processes and compliant query practices
• Clinical knowledge, including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathology, and disease processes
• Interpretation of clinical indicators and medical record documentation

General job requirements, candidates who:

• Hold a coding credential through AHIMA or AAPC
• Have several years of coding experience
• Can work independently in a remote environment

• ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding
• CPT/HCPCS procedure coding
• ICD-10-PCS coding, when required by the client for data collection purposes
• Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting (Outpatient)
• Discharge disposition assignment
• Physician query processes and compliant query practices
• Clinical knowledge, including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathology, and disease processes
• Medical necessity requirements, including LCDs and NCDs

General job requirements, candidates who:

• Hold a coding credential through AHIMA or AAPC
