  Senior PHP developer

About the Role

At Okbima we are looking for an experienced Senior PHP Developer who can take ownership of backend development, API integrations, insurance workflows, and production-level technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using PHP, CodeIgniter 4 & Laravel.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs and third-party Insurance APIs.
• Work on Health & Motor Insurance business flows and integrations.
• Design and optimize MySQL queries and databases.
• Debug and resolve application, API, and production issues.
• Use Git/GitHub for branching, pull requests, code reviews, and version control.
• Coordinate with QA, frontend, product, and business teams.
• Communicate directly with clients and insurance partners to understand requirements and resolve issues.

Required Skills

• 5-7 years of PHP development experience.
• Strong PHP, CodeIgniter 4, Laravel & MySQL knowledge.
• Experience with REST API development/integration.
• Good understanding of JSON, API authentication, webhooks, and error handling.
• Strong Git knowledge.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Insurance domain experience, especially Health/Motor, is preferred.
